We were so honored with the privilege to purchase Rocky Top from Mike & Terry Tobias of Terralea Farms in Upper Falls, MD. On the emotional and personal side, my experiences riding and handling him is how I came to the decision to purchase my first Rocky Mountain Horse. On the flip side - when the business end of this purchase came along there was no question of what type of stallion we wanted.
We wanted a breeding stallion to bring to New England that could be an Ambassador of sorts to the Rocky Mountain Horse breed. But as breeders - we were not concerned with purchasing a horse that had won ribbons and awards. We wanted to purchase a breeding stallion that PRODUCED the highest quality offspring that would win ribbons and awards. Afterall - We're not trying to sell Rocky Top. We're trying to sell his offspring. And when it comes to his offspring we can modestly say that he has proven himself impressively....
He is the sire of Champion horses and award winners like; J Lee's Rockit, Cocoa Caliente, Tijuana Taxi and Rocky's Montana. And his offspring has gone on to produce great Stallions and award winners like; Kemp's Cool Hand Luke, Klassic Caliente, CCF Black Coffee, LA Bud, Powerstroke and The Real Deal.
His offspring has graced the cover of many horse magazines and calendars. Not to mention many notable appearances in books as well. They have won almost every ribbon and award available to these magnificent horses.
So - if you have the decision of who you want to be the sire of your next horse...... Is there any question???
Rocky Top was the first foal born on Terralea Farm in 1990. He is sired by Johnson's Toby out of Dutchess.
